cooking dinner

today i cooked a meal for my self and my parents. this is a new experience for me because I usually don't cook much and not very well
so i decided to to cook something quite easy to start with: spaghetti with tomato sauce. but i used my sister's army recipe

for this i used:
two tomatoes
an onion
one tooth of garlic
salt
pepper
oregano
sweet basil
water
tomato paste
cheese
and spaghetti

first I cut the onion into small squares and I fry them, I also added one tooth of garlic which i have cut into quarters
in the mean time i heated some water for the spaghetti.
i needed to wait for the onion to get to a colour which is between golden to brown, so I went to cut the tomatoes into small squares and when the onions were ready i added the tomatoes.
the water was boiling in the pot so i added the spaghetti.
in the saucepan the tomatoes have gotten softer so I added the tomato paste with half a cup of water. then i started mixing and adding the spices and salt. I used a teaspoon full of both salt and pepper, half a teaspoon of sweet basil and half a teaspoon of oregano.
I continued to mix until the sauce was more viscous, meaning less water was in the sauce, also the spaghetti was nearly done so I decided to scrape some hard cheese (I used Damtaler but you can use what ever cheese you want if you want any).
after the spaghetti was done and the sauce finished, I filtered the spaghetti and added the sauce,I mixed them together.
I served and it turned out better then expected, with the level of spicing correct and and the spaghetti was not overcooked.

Reflection:
timing was an issue where the spaghetti was done but the sauce was not yet finished all the way.
I need to resolve that by starting with making the sauce and then starting to boil the water.

CAS outcomes:
undertake new challenges- by cooking dinner today for my family i engaged in a new kind of challenge
develop new skill- I feel that I have now grasped the base of cooking where from here there is only the way up.
